HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN YOUR FIELD OF WORK?
I have worked in healthcare administration most of my career. However I was hired by a mentor of mine to work in a retirement and assisted living community, and once I started there, I knew that I was home. I get to work with amazing staff in service to incredible residents every day. I love working in senior living!
WHAT IS ONE THING PEOPLE think THEY KNOW ABOUT YOUR JOB?
People either think one of two things: what do you REALLY do OR that I am the big boss lady. I really do a lot - which in a nutshell amounts to ensuring residents have the best in living their full, independent lives through programs and services provided with care, respect, and hospitality in mind. It is my job to make sure my team has what they need to do their jobs to the best of their abilities. I make sure our residents and staff have safety and security, opportunity, respect, and joy.

It is so multifaceted and I get to use all of my skills in making sure that things run smoothly.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
The PEOPLE - the residents, the staff, the families, the professionals - all of the fabulous people I work for and work with
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE STARTING OUT IN YOUR INDUSTRY?
Be humble, be open, be professional, be respectful. Being a leader is not a title - it is a life of service and responsibility. Integrity never takes a day off.
What is the ONE book that you think I should read RIGHT NOW?
My favorite author ever is Carlos Ruiz Zafon - and everyone should read the Shadow of the Wind
