Local Business Spotlight | Stephanie Wagner
WHO IS YOUR IDEAL CLIENT?
First time homeowners, anyone looking to get top dollar on selling their home or individuals wanting to learn how to buy income properties
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN YOUR FIELD OF WORK?
My passion for real estate started at a young age having watched many of my own family members buy their own homes as well as income properties. My passion for real estate was reignited after I bought my own income property several years ago. I had the pleasure of working for an amazing agent at the very same office I am now a realtor! My agent was there for me from seeing the property I wanted to buy, writing an offer to purchase, being there for my closing and every step in between. I knew immediately that I wanted to be the same dedicated, compassionate and confident agent one day for my clients. I am so grateful to be given this opportunity to do the same thing for my clients now! I am very excited to work alongside some of the best agents in the business as well as for one of the best agencies in this state!
WHAT IS ONE THING PEOPLE think THEY KNOW ABOUT YOUR JOB?
I think that a common misconception of being a real estate agents is that it is easy to be successful. The reality is the 75% of new agents fail in their first year and 87% leave the industry within their first 5 years. Although it is incredible rewarding, it also a fiercely competitive field with many obstacles to overcome. It takes years of dedication, time and commitment to establish a business that clients trust literally the biggest purchase that they will ever make in their life. It is a huge responsibility and shouldn't be taken lightly.
NAME ONE THING YOU WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT YOUR JOB.
Not every agent is created equal, meaning that there are lots of options and people to pick from out there. How do you find the person who is the right fit for you? I think it's helpful to look at why people got into the business to begin with. Like any other field of study, there are many reasons to become a real estate agent. It is true you have flexibility with your work schedule, that you are your own boss and there is plenty of opportunity for professional and personal growth. Some people go into the field for these reasons. The most important thing to look for in an agent is to look for someone who is truly passionate about what they do and not just someone trying to make a dollar. If you want a successful real estate transaction, whether it is buying your first home or selling your current one for top dollar, finding the passionate people is key. They will do what it takes to take care of their client.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
I love helping people with the purchase of a home and getting top dollar for clients when they are selling! It's an amazing feeling knowing someone feels comfortable putting their trust in me.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE STARTING IN YOUR INDUSTRY?
I would say to someone starting out to stay the course. It takes time to build a client base and give yourself some grace in the process.
What is the ONE book that you think I should read RIGHT NOW?
I have several books that I love. Here are a couple. Likable Badass: How Women Get the Success They Deserve by Alison Fragale, The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous and Broke by Suze Orman and Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton.
