Wauwatosa West class of 2024 | Jake
We are quickly scooting along in the Class of 2024 Senior Portrait Parade.

Oh, and also he would make a great companion in a dark alley. (Keep reading and you’ll understand…)

As a mom, watching your child reach their senior year of high school is a proud and emotional milestone. Along with the excitement of “freezing time” with senior portraits, there are often a few common concerns that come to mind.
3 THINGS ALL MOMS WORRY ABOUT BEFORE SENIOR PORTRAIT SESSIONS
1. WHAT TO WEAR
Choosing Outfits: Moms often worry about selecting the perfect outfits that reflect their child’s personality while also looking stylish and timeless.
Tip: Pick a variety of outfits that show off different aspects of your senior's style. Many seniors choose to do a mix of casual, formal, and something that highlights their interests or future career. Avoid overly-trendy pieces or anything clearly branded (text) that might date the photos.
2. NATURAL POSES + EXPRESSIONS
Getting Genuine Expressions: It’s common to worry that your senior might look stiff or forced in their photos. There is nothing worse than that “fake smile”.
Tip: I specialize in making my subjects feel comfortable. I have ways of capturing natural, candid-looking moments. Also - and this is vital - we will meet at the Pre-Session Consultation in part to avoid the day-of-meeting-your-photographer-jitters.
3. WEATHER
Unpredictable Weather: We live in Wisconsin. Outdoor sessions can be unpredictable, and moms often worry about rain, wind, or harsh sunlight affecting the quality of the photos.
Tip: Schedule a session with flexibility in mind, allowing for potential rescheduling if the weather doesn’t cooperate. At your Pre-Session Consultation we will discuss strategies to deal with different weather conditions and can suggest alternate indoor locations if necessary.
3 BONUS TIPS FOR A SMOOTH PORTRAIT SESSION
Communication: Please tell me ahead of time about any specific questions or concerns. When we get together for your consultation, I welcome your input so we can address your worries.
Preparation: Ensure your senior is well-prepared. Among other things, he should get a good night’s sleep, stay hydrated, and maybe have a light snack or meal before the session (just say no to being hangry!).
Relax and Enjoy: Remember, this is a celebration of your senior’s accomplishments and individuality. Trust me to capture the essence of your child. My job is to create image that reflect YOUR SENIOR.
By addressing these common worries ahead of time, we will have a smooth, enjoyable experience. All that’s left for you to do? Embrace the moment and look forward to beautiful, lasting memories captured in those gorgeous senior portraits.
