I love working with all kinds of personalities - introverted, extroverted, a little of both, and maybe someone who’s not quite sure where they fall…
Truthfully, I think Alex is a little bit of all those categories. Which oddly makes me more excited to break the ice, like it’s a special kind of challenge.
And even more truthfully, I never would have known that without a consultation before their portrait session. Alex got to meet me (I’m sorry? lol) and ease into my humor, personality and conversation style. I got to know Alex, ask lots of questions and learn all about what makes Alex tick.
When it came time for their session, it wasn’t as “scary”. I knew how to put Alex at ease and we ended up having a fantastic time! Because a BIG part of the learning curve (for both of us) was taken care of at the consultation, that left the session with all the FUN.
As for underestimating people… we all underestimate ourselves. I can especially tell when I show my subject the back of the camera at a session. Their reaction is priceless. I love seeing it, and watching them relax a little more, as if to say, “ok, we got this.”
Yes we do.
And yes we did.
