Do You Have a Good Side? | How to Take a Great Headshot
Imagine this…
You walk into my studio for your headshot session. You are nervous, anxious and pretty much completely consumed by worry over how you will look in your photo. You are uncomfortable in front of the camera and dreading looking at the results for fear you will be stuck with a borderline-embarrassing photo representing you online for all to see.
Join the club! Really.
Everyone walks into my studio with the same exact concerns. It’s 100% normal.
When you walk into Stories Framed Photography, unlike in your headshot nightmares, I will not instantly hold my camera in your face and demand, “Say cheese!”
Oh, that couldn’t further from reality!
Instead, imagine this…
You will slink in and admit that you are terrified. I will smile (but you won’t see it because of the mask) and tell you not to worry (in non-COVID times I might even give you a calming hug).
We will talk about your business, your role, your brand, your goal with these headshot portraits. Next, you might go to change clothes and do last minute hair and makeup adjustments.
Only THEN will I stick the camera in your face. (Tee, hee. Maybe not quite that dramatically, though.)
But first, before clicking the shutter a single time, I will talk to you about your good side. Do you have a preferred side of your face? You know, sometimes, I can even guess it!
FUN FACT: 60% of people consider their left side more attractive.*
I’m not giving away all my secrets here, but one of the biggest tells is the part of your hair. If you part your hair on the right side, there’s a 70% chance THAT is your favorite side of your face.
Let’s say you have NO IDEA. (Psst, this is the norm.) Not to worry! We will figure it out together! I will photograph you from both sides and together we can analyze your face. I’ve had clients walk in thinking I was crazy for asking and leave confidently knowing their good side. It’s true!
So the question is… when are you coming in for YOUR headshot appointment? Learn more about headshots and book your appointment today.
I can’t wait to show you YOUR good side!
