In-Studio Portraits | The Nash Family

We are now in the month of LOVE, so I want to show some love for the FAMILIES I photographed last year.

Nothing shows your family how much you love them like hanging a wall portrait in your home. You see it every day and it reminds you - and everyone in the photo - just how important you are to each other, how precious time is and how fleeting a season can be.

Last summer Mary called me and wanted her family photographed. With one child in college already and the other in the middle of high school (don’t blink - the high school years FLY by!), Mary didn’t want to wait another season. Plus, according to the questionnaire she filled out before the session, in their previous family photos “I had less children and more hair.” (That’s actually one of the answers she checked… can you relate?)

More importantly, she was celebrating a milestone birthday. Portraits really are the perfect birthday gift to give yourself! She had the right idea…and she will never forget her birthday gift.

According to Mary, her son Connor and husband Ken both had the same opinion about family photos: they wanted to be done with the photo session “yesterday”. But, in an effort to demonstrate their incredible intelligence, they both agreed to doing the photos to simply make mom happy. Well, good job boys! You’re not alone, first of all, and second of all, this bit of goodwill for mom will go a LONG way.

She wanted two different looks, one more formal (check!) and one more casual. In fact, this portrait will be displayed in their living room. (not their actual house in the photo)

But wait…. hang on…. don’t tune out yet! There was an extra special guest in my studio that day. A beautiful, furry and very well behaved guest named Cookie joined in on the family photos!

I could stare into Cookie’s mutli-colored eyes forever. Oh, yes, this sweet pup had me at “woof”. I had to literally snap myself out of the dog-trance and pay more attention to the people!

Oh, here’s a pop quiz: can you guess whose dog it is?

I’m so thrilled that I could help this beautiful family fill their walls with new portraits. I hope you still love your photos… and keep enjoying them for years to come.

P.S. Tell Cookie hi!
