Summertime Family Portraits | The Keenans
When your whole family comes together from all over the country, you want to commemorate the day in more than a snapshot.
This is what the Judy was thinking about when all the children and grandchildren were in the same state at one time. Especially since the last “official” family portrait was taken when the “kids” were still “littles”.
So we arranged for a small portion of their day dedicated to photos.
This didn’t mean they had to stop having fun, enjoying each other’s company or quit laughing. (Truth be told, there were a few shots where there MAY have been adult beverages just out of frame…)
It just meant that I was there to capture it.
Just look at that gorgeous group!
When you gather the family together, it’s not just for the THE ONE family portrait, although that is usually the main intention. I also spend time with each family unit so they have their own portraits to hang on their living room wall.
You’re probably thinking, oh, that’s all? What about —
YES.
When we meet for the Pre-Session Consultation, part of the agenda is to plan out what you - and each family - want to do. And then I fill in some extra blanks.
For example, what grandparent wouldn’t want a portrait with ALL their grand-babies? (You don’t see any babies? Well, they may be grown, but they are still babies to grandma!)
And then there’s the portrait of all the “adults”. Well, that’s a tough one. Thanks to the hands of time, there are more adults in this lovely family than children now. But again, these "kids” and their spouses will always be the center of Judy’s heart.
There’s one other thing.
I mentioned that I’ve photographed this family in the past - many times. One of the benefits of that relationship is bringing back old photos…. during the session, Melina actually brought out the framed version of this photo from Grandma Judy’s living room! So we re-create it! (The only thing missing was matching outfits again, ha!)
Thank you to the entire Keenan family. Big hugs to you all!
