Lincoln East HS class of 2020 | Dee Jackson
I saved this one for last. Dee is the final senior I’ll be introducing from the Class of 2020.
Deep breath.
This is Dee.
I’ve known this brilliant red-headed girl since before she even remembers. Her mom, Jen, and I were “co-workers” at Barnes and Noble. I used quotations because I’m pretty sure we did work while we were there, but there was an awful lot of chit-chat coming from these two! Guilty…as always. And I’m not even going to deny it.
Maddie, my dear. I know this is totally cliché, but too bad: you have grown up and into a beautiful young woman. When I photographed you last summer for your senior pictures, I actually felt like I was having an out-of-body experience. My head knew it was YOU I was looking at, but you seemed like such a different person. Not in a bad way but in a oh-my-she’s-grown-up way. I loved watching your expressions, listening to you talk and hearing you laugh.
I’m so proud of you. I’m so excited for you. I want the world for you. You’ve earned it! So now go - go get the thing you want and embrace it and enjoy it. The world really, truly is your oyster. Pry that baby open and dig out the pearls inside! They’re YOURS!
(Before you go on, it’d be a great time to go get your mom that box of Kleenex from the bathroom.)
And now, with tissues in hand, congratulations said all around, I see nothing else to do but share that which I share the best.
Dee… Miss Madeline… this is your life (so far)…
This was my first baby shower… a mere 2 weeks before popping! And there, down in front with her mama, is little itty bitty Maddie. 09.2003

This was the summer of the pool. Load them up with sweets and let them splash and crash. Frosting not included. 06.2006
It’s another day at the neighborhood pool (my backyard) - but not just any day. It’s Maddie’s birthday! 07.01.2006
Fast forward to a coloring birthday party. Oh, sweet little Princess Maddie. 09.2006
This girl loved to lay quietly in the sun. Reading. Sleeping. Dreaming. 06.2007
Lunch with little girls - of course that’s Maddie in the middle - should look just like this! 11.2008
One of my favorite photos of this kid. Oh I love it! 08.2011
