HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN YOUR FIELD OF WORK?
In high school, I was involved in a work program with a local State Farm agent and that is where I got my first insight into the professional world. After a couple of years of working for my father's roofing company, I decided to reach out to that agent and began my career in Insurance. Almost 9 years later I am the owner of my own independent agency!
WHAT IS ONE THING PEOPLE think THEY KNOW ABOUT YOUR JOB?
I feel a lot of people think insurance sales are for money-hungry crooks, and there have been poor examples in the past that give off this sentiment. In reality, insurance agents are in the business to help people. Many of us have seen how devastating a property or liability loss can be to a person or family, and being in a position that can help get those people back on their feet is an incredible reward.
NAME ONE THING YOU WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT YOUR JOB?
wish people knew the true importance of having proper insurance coverage, it's like having an invisible shield around yourself. Although insurance might not prevent bad things from happening, proper coverage in place will certainly help with the stress and financial burden of having an unexpected life interruption.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
I love being a resource to my family and friends, and sharing my knowledge and expertise with my community.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE STARTING OUT IN YOUR INDUSTRY?
I would recommend anyone to begin working for an agency first to learn the ins and outs of insurance. Learn as much as you can, and decide if having an agency would be a good fit for you. If so, contact Goosehead!
What is the ONE book that you think I should read RIGHT NOW?
I really enjoyed "The 12 Week Year" by Brian P. Moran, Michael Lennington. This book put into perspective how we manage our time and goals, and offered great connections between goals and progress.
