HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN YOUR FIELD OF WORK?
Leighann Lovely started her career in staffing in 2004 as a recruiter, when she herself stopped in at a staffing company for assistance in finding a job, she was quickly hired by them as a recruiter and found her passion in HR. She now helps clients make sound buying decisions based on their needs and budgets for over 9 years as a sales professional. With 17 years of combined experience in Human Resources and Staffing, she puts a huge emphasis on the human side by supporting the needs of people. Leighann believes that if you are not learning something new every day, you are missing out on an opportunity to be great.
As an Associate Director of Client Solutions at Vaco in Wisconsin, Leighann has the opportunity to put her years of experience into practice by guiding her clients through the decision-making process.
Because of her passional for HR and her own Metal health struggles Leighann launch Let's Talk HR - Humanizing the Conversation in order to have the tough conversation about how the "human side" impacts us in our daily lives and how companies can work to build a better environment to support the needs of there people without compromising production.
WHAT IS ONE THING PEOPLE think THEY KNOW ABOUT YOUR JOB?
Someone not too long ago described their idea of what Sales/Business Developers does. They said "You get to go out and have fun, while the rest of us stay here in the office and do the work"
This has stayed with me, as a person who has worked on both sides I will say that I work harder as a person who carries the weight of meeting metrics and bringing in business. The same goes for producing and hosting a podcast and being completely responsible for my own success.
NAME ONE THING YOU WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT YOUR JOB?
Human resources, staffing firms, and my roles at Vaco and as a Podcast Host are about helping both the company I work with and the people that come to me looking for work. While we are a for-profit company it still comes down to wanting to do the right thing for the people we serve.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT YOUR JOB?
I get to interact with amazing people all the time and have great conversation
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE STARTING OUT IN YOUR INDUSTRY?
This is a tough industry, there are very high, highs and very low, lows.
What is the ONE book that you think I should read RIGHT NOW?
Right now with a good time to read "The Present" by Spencer Johnson
