New Berlin Birthday session | Evelyn’s Cake Smash

What a little pumpkin.

And I mean that almost literally. This adorable little one was born on Halloween… one year ago!

Mom brought Evelyn in for a Cake Smash Portrait Session and let me tell you, she was ready for that cake!

Toddler girl in burgundy overalls claps her hands standing in front of two pumpkins.

But first, before the crumbs and frosting went awry, we got some adorable CLEAN portraits in. Look at those chubby legs! I could just eat them up!

Thinking of getting portraits of your kids? It doesn’t have to be so stressful! Here are some tips to make everything a piece of cake….

5 QUICK TIPS FOR KIDS PORTRAITS

1. TIMING IS EVERYTHING. Opt for times when your children are usually happiest and most cooperative, like after a meal or a nap. This helps ensure they're in the best mood for photos.

2. SETTING IS KEY. Let’s discuss in advance what we want the set to look like. That way, when you arrive, I will be ready to go and we won’t have to waste precious minutes setting up.

3. FUN FIRST. Photos don’t have to be boring! Encourage your children to have fun. Genuine smiles and expressions make for the most memorable and cherished photos. But you sit back and relax - I’m in charge of the Fun and Smiles Committee! (Besides, it’s probably better not coming from mom, right?)

4. GET DOWN. To capture more engaging photos of children, I will do my best (creak, crack) to get down your child's eye level. This helps create connection and adds depth to the images. So if you see me sitting on the floor, I didn’t fall. I’m (probably) there on purpose!

5. CANDIDS FOR THE WIN. Sometimes the best photos happen when kids (and adults!) are simply being themselves. I may take a moment to let them play and explore while I capture those spontaneous, authentic movements.

Is it time for your little one’s first birthday? Let’s get that Cake Smash Session scheduled right away! It’s so much fun for you to watch and I am in charge of documenting it. That way you can simply ENJOY (well, as much as you can enjoy a complete and total disaster).
