Wauwatosa West class of 2024 | David | graduation

Did you miss Part 1 of David’s senior photos? We went out to Jacobus Park in September of his senior year and took some perfectly simple, totally HIM portraits.

Part 2 included a funny little story and a lesson about what NOT to do for your senior photos.

For Part 3 - surprise! We went to JAPAN!

Part 4 was all about PASSION and his guitar.

One of the smartest things I did was take some studio shots of David with his cap and gown - separate from the actual graduation day.

Why, you ask?

Well, first, it primed his mama for seeing him in the cap and gown and spurring that gut-emotional reaction. That way we could truly just enjoy graduation night.

Second, graduation night was absolutely exciting and chaotic and messy and wonderful. And I didn’t feel any pressure to take photos, get the perfect shot, or capture the night in any way. I had already gotten the shots - graduation night was pure enjoyment. I didn’t even bring my camera!

In fact, I want this for YOU too. I invite all my senior clients into the studio for cap and gown photos. It’s one of the little surprises I offer throughout the school year.

Before I show you the high school graduation photos, just for comparison and an extra little sniff factor, here is my baby, little David, on his first day of Kindergarten. Oh, that little squishy face!

Let’s talk about your child’s senior photos. Cap and gown photos are just the tip of the iceberg. I go out of my way to celebrate my seniors - as they should be! It’s a momentous time of their life and not to be swept under the rug.
