Wauwatosa West class of 2024 | David | march
Did you miss Part 1 of David’s senior photos? We went out to Jacobus Park in September of his senior year and took some perfectly simple, totally HIM portraits.
Part 2 included a funny little story and a lesson about what NOT to do for your senior photos.
For today’s post, Part 3 - surprise! We went to JAPAN!
For the last four years, David has been self-studying Japanese. Every single day. Along the way, not only has he actually learned the language (it is SO weird and thrilling to see him write it!), he has also developed quite a passion for it. In fact, he plans to study Japanese in college as one of his majors.
Several years ago there was an art class trip scheduled for Japan - he may have been the first one signed up! He even took an art class (photography, haha) JUST so he would qualify to go on this trip.
Then the trip was cancelled. Stupid Covid.
After that, my husband and I got the crazy idea to take him ourselves! We surprised him for Christmas last year with a 10-day trip over Spring Break. It was a gift for us, too. really, as it was likely the last trip we would take as a family. (Sniff.)
The deal was, we were going to take some senior photos while we were there. I mean, he didn’t really argue with that.
BUT.
If you don’t remember, my son is a somewhat unwilling subject.
And we were on vacation.
Can you hear it? “Mooooooom." “Mooom, do we have to?”
Except because David is so sweet, it was spoken silently and through his facial expressions of annoyance and impatience.
Ironically, the ONE photo he recalls being the most annoyed with me, turns out to be his favorite shot. Ha!
march | JAPAN
David really knows how to rep the brand. Good boy!
The following shots are my favorites… so distinctively JAPAN.
I look at these photos and can’t even believe they’re real. That trip was such a deam and the bunch of “portraits” I snuck in here and there are pure bonuses.
Stay tuned for the next set of photos…. Yes there’s more! David has another passion that I HAD to capture to properly tell his story.
If it’s time for you to schedule your student’s senior portraits, let’s talk asap. If you want to schedule senior portraits out of town, even better! My calendar is filling quickly so let’s talk soon.
